Who
would have thought I would end up with a Chihuahua?
The last person would have been me! Not that I didn't admire the breed, as I
did, especially when I would see them at dog shows, but I had never thought of
owning one.
Then through our mutual love of dogs, my very good friend Angela, had one of
her Chi ladies have a big litter, and as usually is the case, big litters and
little mothers, do make for a lot of extra work and a true labor of love.
In amongst that litter of seven, was one very tiny, under weight, baby girl who
needed that extra bit of love and attention. Angela brought her to see me to
help in whatever way I could to save this little one. To be truthful, as
she was passing white bowel motions and her body appeared to be starved of
nutrients, I didn't hold out much hope for her. But I advised Angela to put
baby on Protexin, bottle feed and let her also nurse from her dam.
She was a little fighter! And I loved that about her. Tiny as she was,
she fought hard to stay alive. It meant a lot of sleepless nights for her
breeder, but Angela, is a dedicated breeder and gave her and the rest of the
litter all she had.
Hard work sometimes reaps success, and in this case, it certainly did, and that
is how Willow
came to be! Dear, sweet, loveable little soul! Angela would bring
her with her when she would come to visit and the more I saw this little angel,
the closer I felt to her. And as if by some remarkable chance, she knew
that I was in some way responsible for her survival, she was also attached to
me also. During visits, I couldn't stop cuddling her and she would be so
responsive! While Angela and I would be chatting, Willow, as she had named her, would just curl
up on my lap and sleep. I was bitten by the Chihuahua bug! LOL!
Then one day, during one of these visits, Angela asked me if I would like to
keep Willow!
Well, you could have knocked me over with a feather when I heard that! But, as
Angela stated, if she didn't come here to live, she would never leave
her. Well, the rest you can guess for yourself! Willow is here,
adored, loved, and such a pleasure! She has enriched my life in so many
ways, too many to list.
But if I got bitten by the Chi bug, I made sure Angela would be bitten by the
Pom bug too! So, in place of Willow,
she will be blessed with owning one of my Pom babies soon! Thank you
Angela for making my life complete.
Since Willow
came to live with me, I have had two new arrivals from Angela, my beautiful Dee
Dee and Justin! Thank you so much,
Angela for bringing Chihuahua love into my
life with such beautiful Chihuahuas.
I can't wait to commence my breeding journey into this breed with such a good
start! And for this new found happiness, my appreciation must go to my dear friend Angela Parkin of Forangee.
